About The Game Anyone who can speak English and answer questions. We have had this new version tested in family groups from 11 to 65 years old. Its been tested with total strangers and of course with groups of good friends. The game has been designed - and evolved over the years - to really get people to relax and laugh and see the embrace the fun side of life. This is why we and many others think its the best game in the world: everyone who plays it loves it and has a great fun time. Firstly you need 2 to 16 players and anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours of time to kill. You get together, enter your names and sex and choose what type of game you want to play. Everything is highly configurable - or you can jump straight in with the standard settings. Once started, each player gets asked a multiple choice question. If they get the question correct they win a pond (That's the currency of the game). If they get it wrong then they have a choice of performing a dare or telling a truth. If they fail in that task they loose ponds. The game is won when a player gets 10 Ponds (Or whatever is set in the preferences) What are the dares and truths like? The easy way to find that out is to play the game, after all its free to try. What we will say is that there are loads of them, and they are all unique and well thought out. What is more, the dares and truths are adaptive to the game situation because the game knows your sex, the game state and so on. Its all very complex behind the scenes but you don't see any of that. We are pretty convinced that MondoPondo has the biggest collection of dares and truths in the history of the universe. That's a bold claim, but so far nobody has bettered it.
Aspects of Game Play We have tried to make the game as flexible as possible in every aspect, and who plays the "question-master" is totally up to you. However, we feel that a good method is that one person starts and it rotates every time the score board is displayed. Some of the dares use Props, things that most people have around the house. If you get one of these dares then you will be asked first if you have the required prop. if you do, great, the dare will be presented. If you don't, also great, the dare will be skipped and you will be presented with another dare. What are the different methods of Level Advancement? In the preferences screen you have the option to select between three types of level advancement. These control how fast the game progresses and dynamic of the way the dares, truths and questions interact. The actual formula for these is complex but as a rule of thumb:
Its inevitable that during a game someone will be out. Maybe they will fail a challenge, maybe they will chicken out on doing a dare or confessing a truth. When this happens the player may not have enough Ponds (That's Points in MP land) to cover the loss and will be out of the game. But... all is not lost, if Vote ins are enabled in preferences, then the other players can vote on if the looser is allowed to stay and play. Now that's democracy for you. What if someone wont do the dare? For every dare, truth and challenge there is the option for the player to pass/ fail it. In this case that player will loose a certain amount of ponds depending on the severity of whatever it is that has been passed.
Miscellaneous How many dares and truths are in the game/extra packs? We cannot really say because of the way the dares are written using our amazing DVDA script. This allows the dares to be created in real time as the game is played and means that there are literally tens of thousands of possibilities from the game stock. At a rough estimate there are about 2000 core dares in the game and game modules that's before any of the DVDA magic goes to work. We are confident that MondoPondo has the biggest collection of dares and truths in the history of humanity. Now that's a neat claim! Where is all of the other stuff, extra questions, dares and so on that used to be here? If you played the old version you will know there were loads of extra questions and dare modules you could download and you may notice these are no longer available. Well, MP2 is a total rewrite in every sense. Because of this we wanted to start with a totally clean slate as the game now is able to stand fully on its own two feet. Yes, we will release extra modules and questions, but first we want to see what you think of it as it is.... so let us know. I have found a Typo in the game, what should I do? The game data for MondoPondo is huge. There are literally thousands and thousands of individual elements that are joined together by the games brain to make the things you see on screen. It may look simple but what's going on in the background is very complex. There are typos in the game and we are constantly on the hunt for the little monkeys so we can remove them. So if you can help us with this we will be delighted. What's more, if you find ten or more typos, punctuation errors, rogue or missing apostrophes etc., then we will reward you with a free question pack. Just email us using this link. What is the history of the Smiley? The Smiley is MondoPondo's logo, a detailed histology of this logo can be read here.
